Dr. Joti Samra, R. Psych
Dr.Joti Samra R.Psych. is an innovator in the area of psychological health and wellness. She is a leader in the conceptualization and communication of psychological health issues and the creation of related treatment manuals, clinical tools and training resources.
Dr. Samra has an active and dynamic record of applied research and clinical work, and presents her work extensively at the invitation of organizations across Canada and the United States.
Dr.Samra is a frequent media commentator and writes prolifically for a wide range of scholarly, professional, and popular publications. She is Host and Finance Expert on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network's "Million Dollar Neighbourhood", Psychological Consultant to CityTV's "The Bachelor Canada" and writes a weekly "Ask the Expert" column for The Globe and Mail. Dr. Samra appeared as a clinical expert on all three seasons of Animal Planet’s docu-reality series “Confessions: Animal Hoarding.”
Positions Held:
Dr. Samra has served in a number of leadership committee roles at the provincial and national levels, including serving as the Past-President of British Columbia Psychological Association, Past-Chair of the BC Psychologically Healthy Workplace Awards Committee, and a Technical Committee Member for the development of the National Standard of Canada for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace (BNQ/CSA). Dr. Samra has received a number of awards, including being a recipient of the Canadian Psychological Association's New Researcher Award (2002) and the British Columbia Psychological Association's Advancement of the Profession of Psychology Award (2011).
